Chemical Peels: 6 Weeks to Your Dream Skin

Looking to help minimize signs of aging on your skin and give it a revitalizing refresh? Chemical peels are a fantastic way to transform skin in a non-invasive way for visible and remarkable results. Depending on your skin’s unique needs, you may need more than one or two chemical peel treatments to get your desired results. However, the good news is that chemical peels do work for virtually everyone.

What Exactly Is a Chemical Peel?

It sounds scary, but it’s one of the most non-invasive and gentle professional skincare treatments you can get! With very little downtime relative to other procedures like microneedling, chemical peels can even help rejuvenate sensitive skin. In essence, a chemical peel is an acid or enzyme (or mixture of them) that exfoliates your skin, removing dead surface skin cells, clearing out pores, and stimulating healthy cells to surface. The most common acids used are glycolic, TCA, and salicylic acid. Some chemical peels, like those offered by Image professionals, will also include other beneficial ingredients like peptides and retinol.[1]

A Chemical Peel for Every Need and Every Skin

There are different types of chemical peels that specifically target different skin needs, so you can rely on some type of peel to deliver the type of results you’re seeking. For example, there are deep peels to help improve very rough and coarse skin, scarring, deep wrinkles and severe photoaging.[2]  Chemical peels are also used to address dark spots, melasma, acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles, and include ingredients that help soften wrinkles and fine lines, increase cell turnover, improve overall tone and boost collagen. You can imagine why they’re so popular and how transformative they can be even after only one session. [3]

The Results You Can Expect From a Chemical Peel

With chemical peels, you can see both immediate and long-term results. As soon as the acid used in a chemical peel comes in contact with your skin, it begins to help shed dead surface skin cells and encourages newer cells to rise to the surface. Skin is almost immediately given a more radiant and luminous appearance.[4]

Within 3 to 5 days, you can expect “epidermal regeneration” with a superficial peel.[5] Common acids used in most chemical peels include AHAs, like the popular glycolic acid, and BHAs, like salicylic acid which is also often used in over-the-counter products to help fight acne. With the use of these acids (which are basically exfoliants and work to resurface and refine skin), new epidermal growth and collagen is stimulated, in addition to “more evenly distributed melanin.”[6] This is what accounts for helping to achieve more even tone.

Which Type of Chemical Peel Should You Get?

It’s best to speak and consult with an esthetician to determine which type of chemical peel is right for you. Find an Image Professional near you and ask which of these would work best for you!

Lightening Lift – This peel combines peptides, plant stem cell technology, and botanical brighteners to help even out skin tone and bring forward a more radiant, luminous complexion.

Wrinkle Lift – This peel combines the powerful effects of retinol and glycolic acid to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dullness and other signs of aging. Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that has collagen-boosting ability, which also helps soften the appearance of wrinkles.[7]

Advanced BHA Lift – Featuring a high concentration of salicylic acid, this peel helps to specifically treat acne but also visibly smooth skin that may have rough texture.

Perfection Lift – This is a multi-tasking lift that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, aids in brightening dark spots and uneven tone and helps improve the appearance of moderate to severe acne.
